    Randwick new market – S3

TEK1 completed a residential project for a prominent organization in Australia. Our primary scope was to provide the detailing drawings for the townhouse.

As this was a residential building, the project required extensive coordination with multiple disciplines, including the timber contractor, cladding contractor, and site team. We conducted numerous coordination meetings with the client and other teams to ensure the support cleats were correctly positioned and that all interfaces worked together seamlessly.

There is a maximum length for threaded rods we can procure.

Very often the bracing lengths are more than these lengths.

    Maximum Lengths

For D24 rod this is 9m max and for D20 rod this is 9.4m max. This means we will need to add breaks and turnbuckles to the oversized lengths.

You have to look up the Turn buckle lengths from manufacturers catalogues.

388-George street – Steel stair project

TEK1 completed a steel stair project for a prominent organization in Australia. Our primary scope was to provide the detailing drawings for the steel stair. However, the client also requested that we provide the support cleats for the balustrade.

Although the balustrade itself was outside our scope, the support cleats had to be welded to our steelwork, making their coordination our responsibility.

To ensure a perfect fit, we worked closely with the team responsible for the balustrade model. Through several coordination meetings with the client and the design team, we finalized the cleat locations and incorporated them into our detailing.

    The Client

Chess Industries was the client here. We were ably guided by Mohan and Mike on this project. We also put in our two cents worth cutting costs, eleminating problems before they crystallized.

    Jigs

The jigs and tooling required was thought about even before we started. We have proposed certain tooling, which Chess have made some slight modifications. The tooling was part of the modelling, which simplified the fabrication of the entire job.

    Connection Design

We have taken the concept design. Identified problems with the design which could make fabrication erection extremely difficult. Chalked out certain proposals. Mohan and Mike expanded on our ideas came out with a proposal which all were happy to work with. The result is easy fabrication and assembly.

  • Minimum Pocket Depth for Coloumns

    Minimum Pocket Depth for Coloumns

What is the minimum pocket depth required for rebated coloumns

The minimum washer size is 3 mm. This could be different. If nothing is mentioned use 3 mm.

The minimum bolt stick out should be 1 pitch. For M20 it is 2.5 mm. Use 10 mm stick out.

Also there is grout. Pockets when cast could be of different depths. Use design grout of 15 mm minimum.

The top of the bolt should be 35 mm below slab level to prevent concrete Cracking.

Hence to be practical use 100 mm pocket depth with a base plate thickness of 16 mm and bolt size of 20 mm.

    Handling Complex Geometry – Ribbon

Recently, we were awarded a project to detail a curved section on the bridge for a reputed organization in Australia. The geometry involved presented some unique challenges.

From the elevation, the structure followed a non-linear zig-zag curvature, creating a dynamic and aesthetically driven form.
