  • Lesson 25 – Drawings

Lesson 25 Stair – Model Files in drop box.

    Tasks to do

    Drawing List

    1. Bring up Drawing List (CNTRL +L)
    2. Go through GA, Assembly and Single part Tabs
    3. Search for drawings using a text. Example “Plate”
    4. Show All drawings
    5. Show only selected drawings in drawing list.
    6. Invert selection. (Show what is hidden, Hide what is shown)
    7. Select drawing by selecting a member in the model
    8. Select member in Model by selecting a drawing in the drawing list
    9. Select All drawings which for member profile starting with PL and FL (CNTRL+G brings up selection filter)
    10. Exclude Members which has a specific color/Class example 2 (Use selection filter)
    11. Exclude Members which has a specific name – Finish Floor
    12. Try component and Model Shading (SHIFT + (1,2,3), CNTRL+ (1,2,3))

    Clash Check

    1. Check Clashes by selecting a few members. Set Shading to (SHIFT+ 5 and CNTRL+5) before doing clash check.
    2. Analyze if there are erection problems. If there are, same the Clash Check report

    Flat Bar Check

    1. Take a Plate report (Run Tek1ID) or material List
    2. See whether All plates are from Flat bar. If not, see whether there is a reason why the plates are not from flat bar.
    3. Take report of plates which can be changed to flat bar.
    4. Check Material Grade- Flatbard do not come in 250. Flat bars start at 300 grade.

    Drawing Creation

    1. Delete some drawings for plates.
    2. Recreate the drawings (Right click plate in model and create)
    3. Edit the drawings. And submit.
    4. Test out of cloning of drawings. Try cloning of only similar drawings.
    5. Check Plate drawings to see whether minimum edge distance (35 mm),
    6. If the edge distance is not standard, check whether there is a reason.
    7. Check bolts which go into concrete has minimum edge distance as required by the concrete catalog.
    8. Check bolt center distance specified by the engineer and make sure the center distance on the drawings is as per specifications.
    9. Check plate thicknesses specified is as per thickness specified by the Engineer.
  • Modelling Complex Contour Plates using the Tekla Open API

How to create custom Contour Plates using the Tekla Open API from Tek1 on Vimeo.

Manually creating contour plates from CSV file inputs will likely be disastrous. You’ll inevitably make mistakes and things won’t fit on site: it will be an uphill battle. You can obviate these issues by using the Tekla Open API to solve a lot of those problems.

See the video associated with this post for a demostration of our capabilities using the Tekla Open API.

    Thank you for passing by!

Many have been writing for a basic sample: so you may try this below:

  • Lesson 22 Tapered Plate

    When modeling tapered plate

    • Find the largest thickness and start with a plate size that will cover that.
    • Use Contour plates to model tapered plate.
    • Subtract from the stock to arrive at the corner thickness
    • Check whether the tapered face is on a plane by looking for fold lines (edge lines) of the surface. If there are edge(fold) lines on the surface that mean that face is not on a single plane.

Please take this quiz to test your knowledge of tapered plate modeling
