    Raj (Arokiaraj Arputharaj)

St. Benedict’s Stage 7 Hall, Oran Park, is a multipurpose hall structure.

St. Benedict’s Catholic College was opened in 2011 on a greenfield site in Sydney’s south west suburb of Oran Park.
There are seven stages of construction work listed below.

    • Technology and Applied Studies (TAS)
    • food technology
    • covered outdoor learning
    • science
    • staff administration
    • library
    • creative and performing arts
    • general learning areas
    • multi-purpose hall

TEK1’s scope was Muti-Porspose Hall, and works included anchorbolt steel columns, beams, braces, and purlins.

TEK1 raised multiple RFIs with a proposal. So the design got revised according to the RFIs.

The client responded to TEK1 RFIs quickly.

The project was completed  quickly by our team.

  • Life Saving Facility – Smiths Beach

Life Saving Facility – Smiths Beach

    Author: Pon Dhileepan

This was my first project as a modeler, completed in January 2018.

A circular structure steel structure surrounded by timber battens was modelled & detailed for Smiths Beach, Yallingup WA. Completed site image is attached at the bottom

The structure consists of a bottom ring, a body made as circular cage & a top ring at 5° slope. The body cage is covered by curved SHS flames that has cleats to pick up the outer battens. The entire structure rests of 4 CHS columns.

There are 3 operable windows & a door, all made of steel frames. Since the structure is elevated from the ground, a staircase of arithmetically increasing width is also detailed to access the life saving facility.

  • Bega Tafe – Stage 2

    Bega Tafe – Stage 2

    Raj (Arokiaraj Arputharaj)

Bega Tafe-Stage 2 structure is Multi Trades Hub.

The new 2-level Multi Trades Hub adjoins the existing TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre and incorporates workshops for automotive, engineering, carpentry, and bricklaying disciplines. Also included are general learning spaces, specialist facilities that support the delivery of aged care, disability courses, and early childcare, as well as a specialised outdoor area for horticulture.

TEK1 works included anchorbolt steel columns, beams, braces, and purlins.

TEK1 raised multiple RFIs with a proposal. So the design got revised according to the RFIs. The client responded to TEK1 RFIs quickly. The project was completed quickly by our team.

    4 Schofield St, Essendon

    Raj (Arokiaraj Arputharaj)

4 Schofield Street is a multi-residential development structure.

The structure contained five dwellings. TEK1 raised multiple RFIs with a proposal. So the design got revised according to the RFIs.

The client responded to TEK1 RFIs quickly.

The project was completed quickly by our team.

  • Lets learn Some Erection feasibility Checks

Lets learn Some Erection feasibility Checks

Things to be checked, if we get a spigot connection for a column

When we have a spigot connection, at top of the column and a base plate connection at bottom of the column, first we must check the clearance provided for the movement of the column in the spigot to avoid any difficulties during erection.

If the clearance is not sufficient, we must address the issue to the client along with some proposals. In our condition the following Suggestions were provided.
We can postfix the Chemsets at any one side of the column ends
We can increase the clearance to enable sufficient erection clearance for the column.

In the below case, the design demands to pre-fix the chemset bolts and have provided only 50mm clearance for the spigot movement.

Refer below snaps from model & structural design.

In the above snap, the bottom of column has 10 thick base plate with Ø12 Chemset bolts and the top of the column is connected to the slab through the spigot which has 10 thick top plate with Ø12 chemset bolts as per the structural design requirement.

The structural engineer advised to pre-fix the chemset bolts.

So, we need to check for erection clearance to install the column.

The clearance between Soffit to the top of slab is 2940mm (Refer model snap). When we deduct the projection of the chemset at top 30mm (10mm top plate thick + 20mm projection) and at bottom 45mm (15mm grout + 10mm base plate thick + 20mm projection) from the slab to slab clearance (2940mm) we get 2865mm (2940-30-45=2865).

But the length of the column (when the spigot is fully inside the column and the top plate only projects out) is 2865 (column length) + 10 (Top plate of spigot) = 2875 mm which is 10mm more than that of the clearance between chemset projections.

So, considering this 10mm extra length and providing 15mm clearance at top and bottom, we have prepared a markup proposing 50mm (clearance as per design) + 40mm (10mm extra length of column + 15mm clearance on top & bottom) = 90mm spigot movement for easy erection and this proposal was sent to client.

Client had understood the issue and agreed our connection proposal with 90mm clearance.

Our analysis towards erection possibility along with client’s attention and understanding of the issue that we have addressed made the columns easy to erect.

  • Tanti Avenue

    Tanti Avenue

    Raj (Arokiaraj Arputharaj)

Tanti Avenue is a new structure that also had minor renovations to an older structure.

Steel has been added to existing roof chimneys and skylights.

The new dwelling was constructed using steel and timber. Our client responded TEK1 RFIs quickly. This project was completed by our team in time.

  • Medical centre stair

    Medical centre stair

Tek1 has successfully completed the stair project for the reputed organisation in Australia .

There is not enough connection details in the initial design drawings. Tek1 has proposed most of the connections & client accepted it.

We have considered all the erection issues and provided the most suitable connections.
